I am a strong believer that every voice matters. I know that if even a single voice is lost, we have failed as a campus and as a community. Unfortunately, countless students on this campus feel as though their voice has been lost, and they feel separated from their administration; unable to voice the change that they want to see. That is why I am running to be a Representative in the Illinois Student Council. The Student Council must do better at executing its mission: advocate for the students of this school. This simple mission has not been completed by the Illinois Student Council, which has maintained few relationships with our administration. We need to develop those relationships and communicate the needs of our students. To achieve this effective advocacy, I will work closely with student organizations and other groups to understand the change that students want to see: change that hasn’t happened, change that needs to happen. Change to help combat the important issues that we see. One such issue is the hatred and fear that silence diverse voices of this campus. The fact that a single student can walk on this campus and be afraid for their wellbeing is a tragedy. Prejudice and hate have no place on this campus, and we must do better at fighting these evils. We need to be advocated for. We need to be supported. We need a representative that will finally represent our school.
