(He/Him)

My name is Ethan Comrov, and I am a Freshman from Skokie, Illinois. I am currently undeclared but will be pursuing a career in law with concentrations in foreign policy and international trade. I plan on applying for Gies for the major of Strategy, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship with minors in legal studies. I am passionate about law and leadership and I am active on the RSO SSI board. I recently got elected to the Urbana-Champaign Campus Senate and my philosophy regarding engagement and involvement will help improve the university experience of both students and faculty. I also hold multiple other leadership positions. I am the Recruitment Chair of Sigma Alpha Mu Rho Chapter as well as an intern at Illini Chabad. I am running for re-election on the Urbana-Champaign Campus Senate because of my commitment to continuing to work to improve the student and faculty experience at the University of Illinois. I am prepared to write, pass, and advocate for multiple resolutions that help to fill vacancies on the U-C Senate, ISC, and university committees to ensure students have a voice and are adequately represented. Coming from the Division of General Studies, I understand how representation is and the fact that most of the student body isn’t aware of the Senate or the impact that the Senate can have on their lives is a shame. I hope to make the Senate more relevant to more students by making it more familiar to students with various engagement activities. In other words, the more representation that the U-C Senate has, the better the student experience will be. Therefore, my candidate platform focuses on increasing engagement and communication between the student government and the student body and promoting productivity amongst students and faculty. An increase in engagement and communication creates a more involved and informed student body. My plan to develop a more streamlined approach to how the Senate is perceived by the student body. This means more collaborations with athletic teams or general engagement on the quad. The student body needs to realize that their ideas and concerns can be addressed in the Senate. I will work to involve more students in student government and their respective communities. My goal is to have more students turn towards the U-C Senate in order to address their ideas and concerns. Students will be able to engage with the faculty as well which can be beneficial to both parties. The result of this process is more informed students and a more involved faculty that will contribute to the continued success of the University’s community. In conclusion, I am a dedicated and ambitious student passionate about law and leadership. I am committed to positively impacting the student and faculty experience at the University of Illinois. My leadership skills and prior experience make me the best candidate for the position and I look forward to representing my fellow students.
