Vincent Feldman

(He/Him)

Hello! My name is Vincent Feldman, and I am running for Student-Trustee. I am from Chicago, IL, and am proud to be studying Political Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I take extraordinary pride in community service, especially through advocating for mental health resources, environmental activism, and through participating in local government. In my community, I co-founded the Saint Dymphna Society, a neighborhood mental health roundtable, I volunteer at my Alderperson’s office by shoveling snow for those who cannot, and I am currently volunteering for the Cook County Democratic Party by campaigning on behalf of Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Dan Pogorzelski. Some of my hobbies on campus include learning Spanish, eating at Shawarma Joint or drinking coffee at Yummy Future, and running. My main objectives as Student-Trustee will be to... Expand mental health resources for all students. With enrollment up, it is imperative that the University increases its ability to offer help to every student. Improve pedestrian and biker safety. Pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists are constantly at odds on the way to and from classes. It is important that the University works alongside students to create a comprehensive plan that works for everyone. Fight for greater access to Pell Grants and Post-Graduate opportunities for all students. No achieving student should be barred from a college education in Illinois due to their socioeconomic status, nor should any graduate leave UIUC with job insecurity. Fight to lower housing costs for ALL students. University housing is far too expensive for the average student, and landlords around Campustown charge high rates for subpar services. The University must provide housing grants to any student who cannot afford to safely reside near campus. Advocate for green infrastructure and facilities on campus. As Student Trustee, I will work alongside student environmental organizations and University Officials to expand sustainable infrastructure and buildings across campus. Make our Campus a safer place by building on the relationship with Campus Police and increasing accessibility and knowledge of SafeRides and Walks. With recent tragedies in mind, it is imperative that students are aware of safe and affordable options to safely get from one place to another. Thank you for your support, and I am looking forward to serving and representing our community here in Champaign-Urbana!
