(She/Her)

As a sophomore majoring in Accounting and Data Science with a diverse involvement in multiple campus organizations, I am extremely driven, dedicated, and passionate about this university. I am applying to express my candidacy for the position of Student Representative for the Gies College of Business, a role I believe aligns seamlessly with my experiences, passion, and commitment to fostering a thriving academic community. Over the last two years, I have developed a meaningful connection with the Gies College of Business, primarily through my dedicated service as a Gies Ambassador. This role has provided me with the opportunity to actively interact with both prospective and current students, offering me valuable insights into the diverse concerns and aspirations within our community. Moreover, my current role as a marketing intern for Gies has significantly enhanced my comprehension of the college's dynamics, further allowing me to make meaningful contributions. The decision to pursue the role of Student Representative stems from my belief in the transformative power of active student engagement. I have witnessed firsthand the positive impact that passionate and dedicated individuals can have on shaping the college experience. Through my various roles within Gies, I have developed a profound appreciation for the importance of advocacy and communication in creating a supportive and inclusive academic environment. One of my core beliefs is that continuous improvement is essential for the growth of any community. As a Student Representative, I will be committed to working collaboratively with my fellow students, faculty, and administrators to identify areas that require enhancement and implementing effective strategies for positive change. This role is an opportunity to bridge the gap between student perspectives and institutional decision-making, creating an environment that fosters both academic and personal development. I’d also like to highlight how important I believe proactive advocacy to be. I aim to be a voice for my peers, addressing their concerns and creating initiatives that enhance their overall experience. This involves promoting transparency and communication channels between students and the college administration, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. I suggest implementing a point-based incentive system to enhance student engagement with the feedback platform. Students earn points for impactful feedback, which can be redeemed for school-focused benefits like bookstore vouchers or extra credit in classes. This streamlined incentive approach aims to encourage active participation and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement throughout the campus. I’m also dedicated to fostering a sense of unity within Gies and the university. I plan to initiate mentorship programs, connecting upperclassmen with underclassmen to create a support system that transcends academic boundaries. This will not only aid in the academic success of students but also contribute to a more tightly-knit and collaborative community. I believe my candidacy for Student Representative is grounded in a genuine passion for the Gies College of Business and a commitment to continuous improvement. I bring a unique blend of experience, dedication, and vision that I believe will contribute significantly to the growth and well-being of our academic community.
