I am Nehal Jain, a first-year graduate student in the department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, specializing in Environmental Engineering & Sciences. My hometown is Bangalore, Karnataka, India. With a history of leadership roles, including serving as the President of the school’s Rotaract Club and heading Operations for my undergraduate department club, I am committed to bringing my experience to the forefront as I run for the position of Student Representative for the Graduate College in the Illinois Student Council.

As the Student Advising on Graduate Education on the Illini Union Board, I understand the importance of effective representation and advocacy for the graduate students. Graduate students are often considered as a minority and their concerns are often overlooked. With my voice, I aim to bridge this gap, ensuring that the diverse opinions and issues faced by graduate students are not only heard but also addressed.

I look forward to establishing a regular feedback mechanism to ensure graduate students’ opinions and concerns are actively heard. With your support, I can create an open forum for discussions on challenges unique to us, fostering a sense of community and support. I also understand how essential it is to bring forth the perspective of graduate students in the decision-making process of the ISC.
