(He/Him)

Dear Students, My name is Michael Jiang, and I am honored to present myself as a candidate for Illinois Student Council Representative in the Illinois Student Council. I come from a background deeply rooted in economics. Throughout my academic journey, I have immersed myself in the study of economic theories and their real-world applications. I used to take part in some competition in the past, such as National 16th Place, Management Decision Making in FBLA China Final. International Economics Olympiad and so on. Beyond academics, I also foster a vibrant campus environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Student Council serves as a vital forum for addressing key issues impacting our academic environment, and as a student of economics, I am eager to contribute my insights and perspectives to this platform. By actively engaging with students, I aim to ensure that student voices are heard and considered in the decision-making processes that shape our academic policies and practices. I will also try to enhance academic support services, such as tutoring programs, study groups, and so on. Secondly, I am committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. I will work to promote diversity in curriculum development, ensuring that our department reflects the rich diversity. Finally, I will advocate for policies aimed at reducing financial barriers to education, including affordable textbook options, scholarship opportunities, and financial aid resources for students. In conclusion, I am deeply committed to serving as a dedicated advocate for Illinois Student Council Representative. With your support, I am confident that together we can work towards building a more supportive and vibrant community for all. Thank you for considering me for this important role. Sincerely, Michael Jiang
