(She/Her)

At home Friday nights are when my parents and I often spark conversations about historical connections and diplomatic relations around the dinner table. We discuss how WW 2 weakened the British Empire and led to Indian Independence and debate the impact of the Indo-Pacific alliance. As a Student Representative, I hope to continue similar discussions with fellow students, exchanging perspectives on conflicts and working together to find solutions. As a political and foreign country buff, I hope to pursue a dual degree in Political Science and Economics as it provides the foundation to support a career in foreign policy making and law. Empathizing with challenges faced by individuals in our country, I closely follow updates regarding the rules and initiatives set in place by our leaders, and believe change is always possible. With this I believe change can begin anywhere, especially on a dynamic college campus like ours. As I am hopeful for the opportunity to become a student representative, I am driven by my desire to advocate for the interests and well-being of my peers. The role of a student representative is not merely a title or a position, but it is a commitment to fostering a positive campus environment where every student feels heard, valued, and empowered. My passion for advocacy stems from the belief that every student deserves a voice. As a current writer for the Daily Illini, I get to share the stories of various community members and their passions. By serving as a student representative, I see myself as the bridge between the concerns, aspirations, and unique perspectives of my peers that can be effectively communicated to the administration and faculty. As an immigrant, I understand the power of diversity in enriching our community, bringing together a variety of perspectives, experiences, and ideas. I've found that when individuals from different backgrounds and beliefs collaborate, the result is a diverse problem-solving approach and a collective appreciation for differences that create an environment for innovation. Having a collaborative spirit is not just about checking boxes for inclusivity; it's about recognizing that each unique voice contributes to a broader narrative of success. Diversity is not just a concept, but a practical and impactful force that propels us forward. I am committed to promoting the understanding that embracing diversity is not just beneficial but essential for building a resilient and innovative society. Through open dialogue, collaboration with diverse student groups, and engagement with faculty, I know I can tackle systemic barriers and promote equity. At the heart of my desire to be a representative is my commitment to building a strong community where students feel a sense of belonging and actively contribute to the vibrant Illinois academic environment. I hope to contribute to the creation of a community that extends beyond the classroom and professional setting – one that develops friendships, intellectual growth, and a shared sense of purpose. In the end, college is supposed to be the best years of our lives
